General Discussion / Posting photos
« on: November 02, 2018, 08:30:58 PM »
I said I would try and show some other ways to share photos here or for that matter anywhere. I will post links to photos in here to see how they work. I will start with
Google photos as I use Google for many things.
Next is Amazon Prime. If your a member its free.
This is Flicker Had to upload one to share it. Flicker is an old service. Free. Pretty easy.
These should get you some options to work with other than Photobucket as they have become pretty bad.

I think it something like you cant post another one so quickly. I had to move on and come back to post a reply. Not very friendly software as I have said before.

Does anyone offer a military discount? If so how do you check if they are military? I know there are online places but is there an easier quicker way? Do Military people carry their card? I'm thinking of offering it but don't know how to.

General Discussion / Sewing neochrome
« on: May 31, 2018, 08:28:54 AM »
I'm having an issue wit too stitching neochrome vinyl. The feed dog seems to catch on the vinyl causing a jam and it cuts into the vine a little. I have adjusted the dog so it is centered, loosened the foot pressure, sprayed the vinyl and machine with wax. Nothing helps. I remember this happening b4 but am unsure if it was neochrome. Other vinyls I've seen lately are fine. Any ideas?

I posted this yesterday and I guess it was one that didn't make it. Anyway..
Does anyone have a recommendation on down blend filled envelopes and cushion cores on the east side of the country? I stopped making thee in house and want to fins a better source that Pacific. The quality of the products are not the best there. I know of another one in California but that seems like a long turnaround and a large shipping bill.

General Discussion / The Facebook
« on: March 31, 2018, 09:07:14 PM »
So all that use Facebook. Have you noticed any changes there? It is like there is less and less use and more and more fillers thrown in. I hear Zuckerman used our data to make some big bucks and it is catching up with them. It's too bad greed took over. Anyway I was just wondering how others see their feeds changing or not.

The Business Of Upholstery / Welt foot sizing

Does anyone have a chart with welt cord sizing and foot size to go with it. Like 5/32 cord takes 1/4" foot.

General Discussion / Death of a forum

Well it's been pretty dead here. I am about ready to change my evening route and drop this stop. Been fun but no sense in visiting an empty house.

The Business Of Upholstery / New fancy nail gun
« on: December 04, 2017, 09:57:22 PM »
The new brass nail gun.
I haven't mentioned it here but Denis got me going on this and I bought one too. It is a great addition to the tool cabinet. I've only done one job with it so far but that one was a breeze. No pain in the fingers holding the nails. It worked fine close to finish wood. And even taking the time to load the board thingy it saved some time. Well worth the 200 bucks. And it runs on like 75-80 lbs. Just a shot when you pull the trigger so it works on all our compressors.

The Business Of Upholstery / hot knives
« on: August 22, 2017, 04:56:29 AM »
So how do all you that use hot knives do it. Do you use a yard stick under the cut, a sheet of something to protect the table? What tricks can you put into words? I just ordered a knife. Tired of all the fraying.

The Business Of Upholstery / Narrow crown gun
« on: July 12, 2017, 08:17:26 PM »
I don't know if I have brought this up before but I'm going to again anyway. I have searched for a narrow crown staple gun for a long time. I have one from Harbor Freight but it uses 18 gauge staples. They may as well be nails. Way to thick. While stripping some bar stools for the past week or so I see the 22 gauge narrow crowns and it makes me want to find them. This is to staple on vinyl double welt. I am using my standard guns and coloring the staples but these are so much better being narrow crown. Do ANYONE know where I can get a gun and staples 22 gauge?

The Business Of Upholstery / need a jig ideas?
« on: June 17, 2017, 09:30:44 PM »
I need to build a jig that will be very simple to use and hold a section of fabric that is between 4" to 8" wide. A gripper type tool mounted to a bench that I could slide the fabric in and when pulling on it makes it tighten down on the fabric to hold it. Sort of a concentric roller thingy. Does anyone have any ideas on where I might find some possible parts for such a thing? Or even buy something pre made if not to expensive.
