Thank you for your reply, I will call on Monday to see if the supplier will ship the Dap Weldwood adhesive to our shop in NJ, the new regulations are the only problem I have in getting the glue I need.  :o

How to Use This Forum / Has anyone had experience with Sta-Put S120
« on: August 03, 2012, 09:20:36 PM »
I'm looking to purchase 5 gallons of high level VOC adhesive for headliners, door panels and seat upholstery, so it needs to be a high heat adhesive, I was contacted by an adhesive distributor today that offered me 5 gallons of  Sta-Put S120 clear adhesive for $177.00.    I'd like to ask if anyone on the Upholstery forum has used this glue, or knows anything about it, the distributor said it's non flamable, but very strong for upholstery applications.
I haven't been able to find any information on-line about this glue, any input on this glue, and it's price would be greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / Re: Problems with Weldwood contact cement
« on: July 30, 2012, 10:31:43 AM »
I did some research and actually see this is the wrong type of glue to be using for this job, my upholstery supplier to me to purchase the glue from the Home Depot, but I see from reading online that they don't se'' the Weldwood landau top and trim contact cement at a Home Depot, so where should I buy it? or is there something better to use.
Thank you for the previous reply. Jan D

General Discussion / Problems with Weldwood contact cement
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:05:46 AM »
I'''m using Dap  weldwood contact cement on custom door panels, I used it according to directions, but it seems to stay tacky which will never hold up once installed in the car, is there anything stronger
and better I can buy at Home Depot, or Lowe's to use? am I doing something wrong with this product?
I used to use Green glue which worked great for all auto applications, but shipping costs are more expensive than the glue, so I'm forced to look for a replacement locally.....I need help ASAP....Thanks

I'm trying to find a supplier who sells Weldwood contact cement, or Green glue if it's still available in a smaller amount than 5 gallons, I really don't want to purchase anymore then 3 gallons. Can anyone give me some info. on that?

General Discussion / Re: Singer Industrial Machine 211G166
« on: July 03, 2012, 07:31:53 PM »
I have a Singer 211G166, I've had mine for quite a few years and it does a great job, I do auto upholstery, and have three machines, a Juki, Consew, and the singer 211...I really can find fault with any of them, the only thing I have done to my Juki was put a smaller pully on it because it was sewing way too fast, but their all good machines.

Is there a contact cement that can be bought at your local Home Depot, or Lowe's that is safe to use on headliner fabric, auto seat cover fabric's, and vinyls? I usually use green glue which I had to order through the mail in 5 Gal. size, It's quite expensive, along with shipping it's more than I want to spend on a decent upholstery glue, and I'm not sure if suppliers ship glue anymore. If anyone would know this information, please give me the name of the glue, and let me know if you can spray it, or brush it on, and how do you thin it? to what consistency? I wouldn't want my headliner job falling on the costomers head when he drives away :o
