Got these chairs covered and what was interesting - no foam!  Anywhere.

The chairs were almost 20 years old but cotton was used in forming the channel backs, Coils were
the springs.  The frames (I think foreign made), looked cheap in areas but was wood.

Always something different!

Making DW is not always the same requirement.

Some frame are more delegate and those should discourage using nails, especially large nails.

Some do get a DW from the std 5/32 cord.  A smaller DW cord is required.

Some customers do not want the staples or especially larger nails.  No nails/staples please is what
I hear.  I get that suggestion especially when the DW size desired is small (like 1/8 or smaller).

Turning 90 degree corners can also be accomplished by cutting a small wedge (close to 90 degrees)out.
These can also be handled with glue.

Large scroll or fat arms techniques are important and so are other techniques on other jobs.

Previously, fabric contents were cotton, rayon, wool, and can't forget  -  the nylon and polyester.

Several of the newer samples use terms like Nano Tex, acrylics, to name a couple.  Well, seems I
remember one more;  100% solution dyed acrylic/polyester ----  How does a shop explain and advise
a customer?

What will fade or not fade?
What will fray and what is the degree of fray?
Questions and there are more!

Best way to clean (instructions are not always given.  Some say no cleaning required but "stuff"
can get on the material and that is what has to be removed(dirt and stuff).  Digest that!

It has gotten to the point when a question comes up ----  I just reference the vendors instructions.

What is leather today?
Top grain (they don't indicate how many lower layers have been cut?
   Processed leather
   Simulated leather
plus what are the important finishes to understand on leather today?

All makes a sales person back away and wonder how to cope - certainly don't want to get into
a law suit (laws vary by state too).

You keep a can of Raid on the kitchen table.

Try spending a few weeks in an old cabin in Northern Canada in the summer. That can of Raid is on the kitchen table when you are in the kitchen. It is in the bedroom when you are in the bed room. It goes with you down the trail when you need to use the double header, if you are lucky enough to have a double header.

Jeff Foxworthy: You know you are a redneck when your front porch collapses and kills at least 5 dogs. You know you are a redneck when your mom doesn't even take the cigarette out of her mouth to tell the State Trooper to kiss her a$$.

There was a nice picture of a young couple walking down a country road going through the woods for a day hike. He said, "This road is kind of creepy." She said, "Yes. It's going to be scary walking back by myself."

Thanks for the variety of wit and humor.

♦ Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool.  I gave him a glass of water.

No Joke. The neighborhood kids are always up to something. One day two grade school girls stopped by asking for donations for the school because the drinking water wasn't working. They needed money to buy bottled water. I thought this odd, couldn't their mother send water to school with them? I told them Rose has all the money and she's not here right now.

I wish I had thought of just giving them a jug of tap water. Lol

If you're sitting in public and a stranger takes the seat next to you, just stare straight ahead and say, "did you bring the money?"

That decorative wood lip is a problem. Any chance they could make the back attached to the seat frame? That's how we did this theater built in.

Taking over an amateurs half finished job is never fun and often a money looser. You can count on having to strip the fabric, no telling what they used to fasten it with. The customer will expect a better price seeing they already cut the whole thing out. You can bet the cut job is all screwed up so re-cutting the fabric will be in order. There is a pretty good chance you will need more fabric. You could charge more than your normal fee but these folks are do-it-yourselfers and looking for a cheap job.

On the other hand the folks looking for an upholsterer before they buy their fabric could bring some jobs your way.
