General Discussion / vinyl strech issues
May 07, 2012, 06:24:16 pm
I have a customer that brought in this new old stock vinyl. very thick and heavy grained i patterned my seat as usual added for allowance but with almost no streach seems to be too small. So i added a little here little there now too baggy what gives. I never have had to yet but would steaming the smaller one( that should fit) make it work? This stuff is terriable and its ugly also very deep grained very thick  stuff. on top of it they are bolsted bench seats with inside curves. bu the time im done making the ends look right the middles are too tight ive done other seats of this style with different vinyls and they come out good

September 01, 2011, 06:27:20 pm
Well went and did it kicking my old singer to the side. Bought a new Chandler 406rb1 from Gregg. I shopped and bothered Gregg a million times decided in talking to Gregg I was going to buy my mach from him a dealer who cares and takes the time to make it right. I even splurged and bought a new table top.

Props to Gregg havent got the machine but the customer service is what I like  ;D

General Discussion / one for mojo rv awning
August 31, 2011, 05:10:00 pm
The neighbor asked if i could do awnings. question is what material is used for the part that slides into the roller and the slide attached to the rv?

What would be the best material to use something like top gun?

Ive had all kinds of different requests lately.

General Discussion / Using sew foam
June 13, 2011, 04:06:11 pm
Ok trying to get better results by using sew foam. First of all which way is right? material side to back of vinyl or foam side? I did a rounded back bucket seat from my boat this weekend in which I gluded lightly the out side back foam side to the back of the vinyl. By the time I was done sewing it togeather it was wrinkle city. The foam I used was 1/2in on the outside back and 1/4in on everything else the 1/4in looks good.
Thanks Jeff

General Discussion / auto upholstery
July 23, 2010, 02:28:41 am
My son wants me to redo his interior in in chevy cobalt. Any special concerns with using a tweed material and vinyl togeather? Thinking of doing the center in tweed and the bolsters in vinyl.  As far as sew foam Im thinking 1/2in under the center and 1/4 under the bolsters. now does the foam get glued to the underside?
