I am wondering exactly how to run the top thread around the tensioning device.  Is the thread supposed to be pulled upward until it goes past the "hook" in the device?

I finally got to try sewing today and it did much better than I expected but the top thread broke and is pulled awfully tight somewhere!

Who was it sang that we had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun--but the wine and the song, like the seasons are all gone? Susan Jack? I wouldn't trade my upbringing for what my neice/nephew's school mates have. Raised on Barney videos, play station, and a microwave; most can't do much more than wash their hands and lord help us if the power goes out. They'd never figure out how to read a book or plant a garden, much less do any work.

Someone named Terry Jacks did it, not sure what album also the Kingston Trio
from the Time to Think album.  ;-)     I have all the lyrics if you want them!

Not morbid.   What a great remembrance!

Good thought Darren!  Actually I have a plate from an OLD singer that will cover everything but the (?) feed dog bar for the testing.

Sorry I haven't gotten on it, I've had to do a LOT of mowing in the last few days.  I do walk by the machine and give it a pat and tell it I will get back to it ASAP!

I surely can't wait to make sure it is all adjusted right and try it out.   I know y'all think I'm a nut job about this machine, but after using that Kenmore zig zag for all my upholstery stuff, I'm in heaven with that Consew!!

I surely will!    I just wanted to get it running and see if anything else was amiss before ordering any parts.

My husband is probably tired of hearing "If I need anything I can call Greg at Keystone!"

I would be happy to Dave.    I admit that it would be nice to know more about the machine before going to an auction and bidding on it, but hopefully my assessment of the machine will be in the ballpark.  The only thing I can see missing is the bed slide plate!   I've got to find one before I can do much with it.  I'll keep a running total for ya!

Thank you everyone,  and as usual my mistake was in saying the "nice" clutch motor.  I meant
to say the nice servo motor!  I am not a company or anything like that, just doing stuff for myself and my family so it doesn't have to be absolute top notch.

I do appreciate all the input!!

Thanks for the input.  I just saw this machine at an upcoming auction and wondered if it was decent enough to drive out of state and pay a fortune for!   I don't think it has the nice clutch motor, but I'm not real sure about that.

I just do my own upholstery with vinyl mostly and have just been using my Kenmore zig-zag
"stitch at a time" mode.   I still have a bunch of tire covers and padded walls to make for a van.

I appreciate any input on this!!

I need your opinions on the value of a Consew Model 206RB-1.    Is it dependable?
What do you think it is worth in good condition?

Thanks,
